AFC Prospect to WilliamHillPoker.Com FC

Starting out originally as a works team, Prospect Builders Supplies, first started playing in the Harrogate six-a-side leagues in 1998. Back then the team was run and managed by Tony Diver. Other members of the squad were, like Tony, mainly from the staff of Prospect. Mark Ogle, Mark Gilbert, Stewart Webster & Andy Deighton all worked for the Builders merchants. Phil Deighton, Chris Light, John Walker & Mark Madeley friends and family of the Prospect staff.

The team did ok, had some highs and some lows, but never really set the football world alight. Best times came in the pub. But that’s why we play, you’ve got enjoy it!

The team first went ‘On Tour’ to the National Builders merchant’s tournament in the summer of 2000 and continued to do so until the summer of 2004.

Tony left Prospect and Andy Deighton took on the mantle of team Manager in the summer of 2003. By now the team was taking a new shape, with a new name, AFC Prospect and new players were making their mark. Nick Lowe, Paul Smith, Martin Prideaux, Steve Holmes, James Lowe & Paul Light joined regulars Phil Deighton, Mark Madeley & Chris Light. In the summer of 2004 came the first real success. In the Yorkshire heats of the builders merchants tournament at Sheffield, Prospect were runners-up and with it qualified for the national finals. At Nottingham it was probably a step too far and Prospect came seventh, but still not bad considering that probably sixty plus teams started out from the heats. Also our entertaining football and ready wit was rewarded with the fair play award. So we went home with an

X-Box.

In the winter of 2004-05 Andy Deighton left Prospect Builders Supplies and sought out independence and new sponsors. WilliamHillPoker.Com FC was born. James Lowe, now an established member of the squad works for William Hill and with his help the team name changed and the future looked orange!

We bought a new orange kit and immediately had some success. The summer season of 2005 brought our first trophy as we beat FC Unison in a penalty shoot out, to win the League Cup. Ant Lazzari made the crucial cup winning save. This did however make up for the fact that we had also been relegated from the Premier Division to Division One for the first time in our history. Our best season could also be said to have been our worst. We still celebrated with a load of beer though!

So, as we speak, we are trying to gain promotion back to the Premier Division.

Prospect Builders Supplies have also moved on and have become PBS Buildbase, Manager Mark Ogle and Assistant manager Mark Gilbert along with Les and all the lads still support the team. Cheers lads!

Nights out, curry, poker, beer, dog racing, good laughs and sometimes a bit of football!
